Team Report

I wasn't sure how Newton's youngsters will perform in this second season defending the title. We did very well indeed with the assists of just a hand full of the seniors of 3 experience players. From the commitment of hard work practicing and play together over time as a team they will become stronger. I am impress by the display in the first half and need to fine tune the second set closely. Kallang Roar was relatively equal in the second set when they managed to score from the beautiful strike by Hadi. Newton were rooted and heavy legged trying to clear from that free kick. It shows the weakness of the young in-experience performance that needs to buck-up in a competitive games. Overall, good experience for the young Newtons.

Team Report

Prolly we overwhelmed by the first-game jitters. Or maybe cos it was a lazy and wet Saturday afternoon. We simply don't deserve to get anything out of this game. We were sluggish right from the first whistle. Our passes aren't quite right. And we were duly punished as we conceded 4 early goals in the first half, although 2 of which were rather dubious and questionable. But to err is human, so we are not gonna dwell and think too much about it.

The team played better towards the end of the first half and was rewarded with a consolation goal after a mistake by the Newton's goalkeeper who "touches the ball again with the hands after releasing it into play and before the ball has been touched by another player". No. 4 took the indirect freekick, releases the ball to No. 17 whose driven shot was well blocked by the opponent's wall, but the ball falls perfectly in front our No. 19 who drills low and powerfully into the bottom corner.

Newton finishes the game strongly and scored a deserving 5th goal in the last few minutes of play.

Final score: Newton 5-1 Kallang Roar
