Week 16 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 marked the final round of Division 2 fixtures before the league pauses for the Muslim fasting month and Hari Raya celebrations. With four out of the eight teams in action, all eyes were on the top of the table as both EZ Utd FC and Pacey Blinders FC took to the pitch in crucial encounters.
Just when it seemed like things were smooth sailing at the summit, the script was flipped. League leaders EZ Utd, unbeaten and with five wins from six, were expected to take control against fourth placed Laggau FC. They got off to the perfect start when Aarulselven Tamilselven opened the scoring in the 8th minute. However, Laggau responded quickly, with Suaidi Maricar levelling the score in the 15th minute to make it 1-1 at the break.
The second half was tightly contested, with both sides pushing for a breakthrough. With just eight minutes left on the clock, Mustaffa Ali delivered a decisive moment, finding the winner to hand Laggau a stunning victory and inflict EZ Utd’s first defeat of the season. Standout performances came from Khidir Ishak for Laggau FC and T. Dewadas for EZ Utd.
That result opened the door for second placed Pacey Blinders to draw level on points, and they made no mistake. Facing Fajar Youngsters, Pacey produced a dominant display, once again led by their talisman Brandon Thio. The forward struck twice in quick succession just before half time to give his side a 2-0 lead.
From there, Pacey remained in full control. Colin Meehan, who was named Man of the Match, extended the lead in the 60th minute before Si Han rounded off a convincing 4-0 win.
As the league heads into the break, Pacey Blinders now sit level on points with EZ Utd, although EZ retain a 10 goal advantage and have a game in hand. Laggau FC are not far behind in third place, just four points off the top with two games in hand, setting up a thrilling second half of the season when action resumes in April 2026.

Week 15 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw four out of the eight teams in Division 2 in action, with Pacey Blinders FC taking on Class FC in a crucial clash that had major implications for the top of the table. With a two game winning streak behind them, Pacey came into this tie full of confidence and with a chance to climb into second place.
They wasted no time making their intentions clear. Brandon Thio, who would go on to steal the show, opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute. Class FC responded quickly, showing their resilience as Shapulatov Umidjon equalized in the 9th minute. The game continued at a lively pace, with both sides going toe to toe. Rayner Koh restored the lead for Pacey Blinders in the 15th minute, only for Muhammad Shafiq to bring Class FC level again in the 30th minute. Up until that point, it was a well balanced contest with neither side able to gain full control.
Then came the turning point. The floodgates opened and the Brandon Thio show truly began. The in form forward struck twice in quick succession in the 32nd and 34th minutes to complete his hat trick and give Pacey a commanding 4-2 lead going into half time. From there, Pacey managed the game well in the second half, keeping Class FC at bay while continuing to threaten going forward.

Week 14 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw a single Division 2 fixture take centre stage, with two out of the eight teams in the division in action. The clash at Clementi Town Secondary featured Laggau FC and Southern Flowers FC, with both sides chasing crucial points for very different reasons.
Fifth placed Laggau came into the game looking to climb the table, while bottom placed Southern Flowers were eager to secure just their second win of the season. It was Southern Flowers who made the brighter start, racing into a commanding 2-0 lead within the opening 12 minutes thanks to a quickfire brace from Aldren Koh.
However, the momentum soon shifted. Matin Safrain pulled one back for Laggau in the 20th minute, sparking belief among his side. The turning point arrived in the 27th minute when Southern Flowers conceded an unfortunate own goal, allowing Laggau to draw level. With confidence growing, Matin Safrain struck again before half time to complete the turnaround and give Laggau a 3-2 lead at the break.
The second half belonged entirely to Laggau FC. Matin Safrain completed a superb hat trick in the 56th minute, capping off a dominant individual performance that earned him Man of the Match honours. Laggau continued to press forward and were rewarded deep into injury time when Zaki Zahir added a fifth to seal an emphatic 5-2 victory.
Despite the defeat, Devin Yi delivered a standout performance for Southern Flowers, showing resilience and quality throughout the contest. Many would point to the own goal as the key moment that shifted the momentum firmly in Laggau’s favour.
The win sees Laggau FC move level on points with Beepelona FC, tightening the race in the middle of the table as the season approaches its decisive stages.

Week 13 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw four out of the eight Division 2 teams in action, with goals flowing freely across two entertaining fixtures that delivered both dominance and late drama.
Beepelona FC’s impressive two match winning run came to an abrupt end as Pacey Blinders FC produced a ruthless attacking display to secure a 6-2 victory. It was Beepelona who struck first through Khairul Rahmat in the 15th minute, but that only sparked Pacey into life.
Led by the in form Brandon Thio, who completed a superb hat trick by the 32nd minute, Pacey Blinders turned the game on its head in devastating fashion. Khaw Relph added a fine strike of his own as Pacey raced into a 4-1 lead inside the opening half hour. Khairul Rahmat grabbed his second of the game to reduce the deficit to 4-2 heading into the break, offering Beepelona a glimmer of hope.
However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished in the second half. Khaw Relph added his second in the 58th minute before Ridhwan Zahid rounded off the scoring in the 68th minute, sealing a comprehensive win for Pacey Blinders.
In the second fixture, Fajar Youngsters and Kamikaze MMXV played out a pulsating 2-2 draw in a game that ebbed and flowed until the final whistle. Kamikaze took the lead in the 25th minute through Mustaq Ahmad, heading into half-time with a slender advantage.
Fajar responded in the second half when Farhan Hairoddin found the equaliser in the 65th minute. The lead changed hands once again just two minutes later as B. Kaviraj restored Kamikaze’s advantage. But Fajar refused to back down, and Farhan Hairoddin struck again five minutes from time to earn his side a well deserved share of the spoils.
Standout performances came from B. Kaviraj for Kamikaze MMXV and Farhan Hairoddin for Fajar Youngsters, both playing pivotal roles in an absorbing contest.

Week 11 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw Laggau FC return to action in emphatic fashion as they produced a clinical second half display to defeat Class FC 6-2 at Clementi Town Secondary.
Coming into the clash, Class FC sat fifth in the standings despite their defeat the previous week, while Laggau were eager to respond after back to back losses following a strong start to their campaign.
It was Class FC who made the brighter start. Just four minutes into the game, Ernest Loi Feng Jin opened the scoring with a composed finish, giving his side an early advantage and setting the tone for an energetic first half. Laggau, however, remained composed and gradually grew into the game. Their persistence paid off in the 25th minute when Suaidi Maricar found the equaliser, ensuring both sides went into the break level at 1-1.
The second half exploded into life almost immediately. Matin Safrain put Laggau ahead in the 43rd minute, only for Quah Boon Yi to respond a minute later with a swift equaliser for Class FC. The drama did not stop there as Suaidi Maricar restored Laggau’s lead just moments later, capping off a remarkable three goal burst in the space of three minutes.
With momentum firmly on their side, Laggau took control of the contest. Matin Safrain added his second of the game before Aqil Hanafi got in on the act. Suaidi Maricar then completed a superb hat trick to round off a dominant attacking performance and seal a convincing 6-2 victory.
The result marks Laggau FC’s second win of the season and lifts them up to third place in the standings, reigniting their push up the table. For Class FC, it was a game that slipped away after a promising start, but they will look to regroup in the coming weeks.

Week 10 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw another reduced round of fixtures in Division 2, with just one match played as teams continued to utilise their Block Out dates. Out of the eight teams in the division, only two were in action, but it was a clash with significant implications at the top of the table.
League leaders EZ Utd FC, sitting on 10 points, faced Class FC, who came into the game with five points, at Clementi Town Secondary. On paper, EZ Utd held the advantage, but Class FC showed early on that they were more than ready for the challenge.
EZ Utd made a bright start and took the lead in the 7th minute through G. Hayshagen, who finished confidently after a well worked move. Class FC responded quickly, knowing they could not afford to fall behind for long. Just five minutes later, Wee Jian Yang found the equaliser, bringing the game back to level terms at 1-1.
The remainder of the first half was tightly contested, with both sides creating opportunities but unable to find a breakthrough. It was a clean and disciplined affair, with no cards shown, as both teams maintained their shape and composure heading into the break.
EZ Utd came out with renewed intent in the second half and quickly regained control. Within three minutes of the restart, Dinesh Ryan James restored their lead with a clinical finish, capping off a Man of the Match performance. Momentum firmly on their side, EZ Utd pushed forward and were rewarded again when Muhammad Zuraidi made it 3-1.
M. Aravind then put the result beyond doubt in the 74th minute, sealing a convincing 4-1 victory. Despite the scoreline, T. Naveen delivered a standout performance for Class FC, showing resilience and quality throughout the match.
The win sees EZ Utd strengthen their position at the top of the table, creating further distance between themselves and the chasing pack as the season progresses.

Week 9 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw another quiet round of Division 2 fixtures, with only one match played as teams continued to utilise their Block Out dates. Out of the eight teams in the division, just two were in action, but the result had significant implications for the league standings.
Fresh off their first win of the season, Beepelona FC travelled to Clementi Town Secondary to face Fajar Youngsters, who had endured an inconsistent start with one win, two draws, and one defeat. On paper, Fajar looked favourites to edge the contest, but once again, the football gods were smiling on Beepelona FC.
The visitors came flying out of the blocks and took control early in the game. Within the opening 30 minutes, Beepelona surged into a commanding 3-0 lead. Mikhail Shariff opened the scoring before Jamalul Ariffin doubled the advantage. Khairul Rahmat then added a third to cap off a clinical first-half display. Fajar struggled to cope with Beepelona’s intensity and direct attacking play as the away side carried their lead comfortably into the break.
Fajar Youngsters attempted to mount a response in the second half and were given a glimmer of hope when Muhammad Nasruddin pulled one back in the 69th minute. However, Beepelona remained composed and disciplined, limiting further chances while continuing to threaten on the counter.
Just as the game looked to be winding down, Iqmal Danial put the result beyond doubt with a late strike a minute from full time, sealing a convincing 4-1 victory for Beepelona FC.
The win marks back-to-back victories for Beepelona and completes a remarkable turnaround, as they climb from the bottom of the table to third place in the standings. Momentum is now firmly on their side as the season enters a crucial phase.

Week 8 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 saw a quiet round in Division 2, with only one fixture played as several teams opted for their Block Out dates. Out of the eight teams in the division, just two were in action, but the match delivered a compelling storyline and a long awaited breakthrough.
Newly promoted Beepelona FC, who came into the game without a point from their opening three matches, faced Southern Flowers FC, a side buoyed by their impressive 4-1 win the previous week. On paper, the odds appeared to favour Southern Flowers, but football has a way of defying expectations, and the football gods certainly had other ideas on the day.
Beepelona started with intent and were rewarded before the break when Aidil Zulkiflee found the back of the net to give his side a surprise 1-0 lead heading into half-time. Riding that momentum, Aidil struck again just four minutes into the second half, doubling Beepelona’s advantage and putting them firmly in control.
Southern Flowers responded with urgency and were given hope in the 57th minute when Devin Yi pulled one back with a well taken finish. The game opened up as Southern Flowers pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Beepelona remained disciplined at the back and looked dangerous on the counter.
Deep into injury time, Khairul Rahmat sealed the result with a decisive third goal, wrapping up a memorable 3-1 victory and securing Beepelona FC’s first points of the season.
It was a result that could prove to be a turning point for Beepelona, who showed resilience, composure, and clinical finishing when it mattered most. For Southern Flowers, it was a setback after last week’s high, but they will look to bounce back in the coming fixtures.

The opening stages were evenly contested, with Suaidi Maricar putting Laggau ahead before Si Han equalised for Pacey in the 13th minute. But from that point on, the floodgates opened. Laggau ran riot, scoring five more before half-time through Izuwan Kamsani, Hariz Zain, and Mustaffa Ali. Izuwan was unstoppable, netting four goals in total and rightfully earning Man of the Match, as voted by the opposition. It was a breathtaking debut performance that firmly announced Laggau’s intent this season.
In the second match of the day, Class FC edged Beepelona FC 2-1 in a gripping encounter where neither side deserved to lose. Wee Jian Yang opened the scoring for Class in the 19th minute, before Rafi Roslee drew Beepelona level in the 34th. Four yellow cards were shown in a fiery second half, but Ernest Loi Feng Jin proved to be the difference, snatching a dramatic winner two minutes from time.
Over at the third ground, Fajar Youngsters recorded their first victory of the season with a thrilling 4-3 win over Southern Flowers FC. Despite falling behind early to a Nicholas Lim strike in the second minute, Fajar hit back through Muhammad Nasruddin (two goals) and Jalal Mohd Sharif. Southern Flowers battled hard but have now suffered back-to-back defeats to start their campaign.

Week 3 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 served up a single Division 2 fixture as most sides observed their Block Out dates in October. Out of the nine teams in the division, only two were in action, yet they produced a riveting contest that had the lot.
Fajar Youngsters faced Pacey Blinders FC in a meeting between last season’s fourth-placed side on goal difference and a team that finished sixth with an even goals record for and against. From the outset, the tempo was electric and chances arrived in flurries. Pacey Blinders struck first through Hilman Zahid and then doubled their advantage when Guan Yuan finished smartly inside the opening ten minutes. Fajar needed a response and found one just after the half-hour mark, with Khairuddin Sharif guiding a composed effort into the corner to make it 2-1 to Pacey at the interval.
The restart brought another twist. Barely a minute into the second half, Hasan Dailami levelled matters with a crisp finish. Three minutes later, he was at it again, timing his run perfectly before tucking away his second to swing the match in Fajar’s favour. When a Pacey Blinders own goal arrived in the sixty-fifth minute, Fajar moved 4-2 ahead and looked set to close it out.
Pacey had other ideas. Straight from the kick-off, Khaw Relph halved the deficit with a clinical strike to set up a grandstand finish. Deep into regulation time, Si Han (also known as Bobby) popped up with a dramatic equaliser to make it 4-4 and send the touchline into raptures. It was pure social footballing bliss, full of momentum swings, individual quality, and no little grit.
Standout performers included Hasan Dailami and Salihin Slamat for Fajar Youngsters, while Khaw Relph and Brian Le Minh impressed for Pacey Blinders. With only two of nine teams featuring this week, the table will take time to settle, but on this evidence, both sides have the weapons to trouble anyone.

Week 2 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 brought the spotlight back to Division 2, with only one fixture taking place as several teams used their Block Out dates in October. Out of the nine teams in the division, just two featured this week, but they delivered plenty of action to keep the fans entertained.
Kamikaze MMXV, recently relegated from Division 1, made a statement in their first game of the season with a commanding 5-1 victory over Southern Flowers FC, who finished fifth in Division 2 last year with eight wins, one draw, and seven losses.
From the opening whistle, Kamikaze looked sharper and more purposeful. They surged into a 3-0 lead by half-time, with goals from Aqeel Ameerullah, Jeevakumaran Balakrishnan, and Ruban Bala. Their attacking play was fluid, and their pressing left Southern Flowers struggling to settle into any rhythm.
Six minutes into the second half, Aqeel struck again to grab his brace and extend Kamikaze’s lead. Southern Flowers finally found a response through Chew Wei Jian, who slotted home to make it 4-1 and restore a bit of pride. However, an unfortunate own goal two minutes from time rounded off a convincing performance from Kamikaze and ensured the match ended 5-1 in their favour.
It was the ideal start for Kamikaze MMXV, who looked every bit a team determined to make an immediate impact in their return to Division 2. For Southern Flowers, it was not the start they had hoped for, but with their next fixture against Fajar Youngsters, they have a chance to regroup and show their resilience.

Season 17 of the Sunday Premier League kicked off this week, though Division 2 opened quietly with just one fixture on the card. Out of the nine teams in the division, only two took to the pitch, as the rest opted for a Block Out date. Still, the lone encounter provided plenty of drama, effort, and promise for the season ahead.
This year’s campaign begins on a positive note, with every match set to be officiated by certified Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Match Officials. The X-League continues to serve as a vital platform for developing referees, helping them gain valuable match experience while upholding the spirit of the game.
The curtain-raiser saw newly promoted Class FC, who finished third in Division 3 last season, take on EZ Utd FC, a side making their return to competitive social football. From kick-off, both teams looked evenly matched. Chances came and went, but the finishing touch was missing at both ends. The goalkeepers took centre stage with a series of superb saves, ensuring the match ended goalless despite the relentless attacking play.
Before the match, both captains were presented with special Respect Campaign armbands, as part of the ongoing initiative by the FAS to promote sportsmanship across Singapore football. Launched in 2019, the campaign’s tagline “Earn It” serves as a reminder that respect must be earned through words and actions by players, coaches, officials, and fans alike. The programme aims to reduce abuse towards referees and foster a more positive football environment for all.
Shoutouts go to Ruban Kumar from EZ Utd, as well as Muhammad Shafiq and Sean Lim from Class FC, who stood out with tireless displays. It’s early days, but both sides have shown that they possess the quality and work rate to make their mark this season.
