Schwarz Star opened up their campaign with an undeserved loss as they went down 1-3 to Arizen FC. Despite taking an early lead through Brandon in the 20th-ish minute after a brilliant run down the right flank by Leslie, the Falcons failed to add to their tally despite dominating in midfield. Arizen got their equaliser when a hopeful long punt down the middle of the field resulted in a miscommunication between the backline and goalkeeper which resulted in their player nipping in to head into an empty goal. Arizen took the lead when a throw-in was failed to be dealt with by Schwarz Star and despite the efforts of Wei Seong, Rusydi and Alfie to close down the space, the Arizen player beat them and placed a shot into the top corner of the Falcons goal.
The Falcons started the second half brightly and had many opportunities to level the score. Royston was particularly guilty of squandering a wonderful one-on-one opportunity after being put through by a wonderful through pass from Andy. Leslie and YQ got in each other's way at another opportunity by the 6-yard box which resulted from a free-kick. As Schwarz Star pushed more bodies forward to get the all important equaliser, Arizen extended their lead after another long punt down the field gave their player an unguarded route to goal.
Schwarz Star will have to look onwards to the next match and hope that individual mistakes which resulted in goals in this match are eradicated and will have to cherish all their chances when they come. Kudos to Arizen FC for finishing their chances and getting the victory.
