Team Report

We have managed a very good player turnout due to good school location and timing. However, this didn't help the end result. In fact, in previous game against Dayak, with only 12 players at disposal (2 arriving late) we had far better chances to get a positive result.

Our latest positive results were mostly due to slight formation change which took place right after first Dayak game. We switched from 5-1-3-1 (protecting wings but not controlling centre of the pitch) to 4-2-3-1 (controlling centre and better attacking options).

Dayak is a typical wing attacking team with both flanks using fullbacks in attack and deep central defence. Logically we should have went back to something like 5-2-3 and just sit deep. We didn't do it and played aggressive pressuring Dayak in their own half but getting stuck in front of their penalty box and being punished with swift counters. First 20 minutes were pretty much even with both sides having chances, but as the first half crossed the equator we were getting tired from hard battles on Dayak's side and midfielders not able to chase opponent's back on counters. 2 quick goals followed, both from counters and due to our miskicks twice allowing Dayak easy one on one in 2 meters from goals. We did not take our chances.

First 20 mins in the second half was similar to the first, it was an even game with us still trying to push through Dayak's defence but even when a getting chance not scoring and Dayak counterattacking through flanks. As the game went to last quarter, Dayak finally scored 2 quick goals from their numerous counters. We have also scored minutes after with Pavel V (our key striker since Bugra was loaned to Purple Monkeys for undisclosed fee) finally on the scoresheet after about 13 games. I have committed a penalty on the last minute of the game, which was scored by Dayak, primarily from being tired and hopeless at that point in the game. 5-1 is the final score.
