Lionheart opened their maiden X-Cup campaign against Sparta Cowboys. A little trivia, our first X-League game was also against Sparta Cowboys, in which we were whacked 1-7. In the return fixture, we surprised them with a 2-1 win.

So to meet Sparta in our opening game, was a bit deja-vu, and poignant.

However, the Lions would change the script this time. We attacked from the first minute, and there were 6 to 8 shots on goal within the first 15 minutes. We hit the bar a few times.

Then Hanaffi scored one from 20 yards out. It was advantage Lionheart!

As the teams went into the break, we knew we had to raise our game to ensure victory. We made a few inspirational changes, and Kecik was sent in for Irfan. 10 minutes into the second half, Kecik received the ball from the right, outpaced the last man, and sent a rasping shot into the bottom corner. 2-0 Lionheart!

Irfan was re-introduced into the game creating a 2-man strike force, causing lots of problems to Sparta. Eventually Irfan got his name to the scoresheet. We were cruising!

However, a last minute free-kick was the only blemish in an otherwise convincing outing for us. We meet old foes Island 69 in the next round.
