Team Report

NEFC vs Deaf United

This fixture came much earlier than expected. It was a surprise for us all.
We did not think we would face Deaf United again especially right after a long, year-end break.

Having gone away from home only managing a draw against a this solid, disciplined and respectable opposition, we knew we were up for an uphill task.

As before, the game started cagey, both sides almost unwilling to take risks.
NEFC seemed to be focusing too much on keeping shape without getting a grip on possession and control.

15mins on, the tempo began to pick up as with the pace of the game.
Eastroids began to get it rhythm particularly in offence.
Deaf Utd as expected, responded by showing sheer grit in defence topped with top class goalkeeping. Eastroids were denied time and time again failing to score even 3 one on ones thanks to superior goalkeeping.

Only on the 33rd min, NEFC found the back of the net. An unfortunate bit of defensive error alowed the ball to be squared back in across the face of goal finished by Aciq who finally managed to break the deadlock with a thunderous tap in almost showing how frustrated he was having been denied all that while.

Eastroids managed a lucky break just 5 mins later. Hashim slotted home his 1st of the seaon cooly after breaking away on the right beating Deaf Utds high defensive line.

2-0 at half time in favour of NEFC.

2nd half was all about keeping our composure on the ball as we were swamped by a more aggressive Deaf United attack. We kept our shape and managed to contain the pressure.
We simply wanted to protect our goal like we would our women.

Both sides had a fair share of chances with series of counter attacks.
NEFC had attempts from Nas, Zad, Zam, Rizal all denied by either wonderful goalkeeping or excellent defending.

Eventually on the 80th min, lady luck smiled back at NEFC and granted us all with the pleasure of witnessing an absolute beauty of a goal. The Rizals combined yet again. Brilliantly struck goal by Riki. A top right hand corner finish from the left, just outside the penalty area after receiving a perfectly sprayed pass from Rizal.

Game ended 3-0 in favour of Eastroids. Perhaps a scoreline that does not reflect the true efforts of Deaf Utd.

Its an honour playing with you Deaf United. We salute you. See you next season. #respect
