Team Report

Lionheart still has work to do in defence after failing to register a win in the high-scoring game against the Saints.

In their 2nd league game this season, the Lions deployed the trusty hands of Hafiz Roslan, the 3rd goalkeeper to play for Lionheart in 2 league games, recalled to try to resolve the defensive issues we were having since last season's departure of our centre backs.

This was a young and experimental defence, but the defenders gave 101% as they played with heart and gave well-timed tackles and firm challenges to break the Saints attacking third.

However, a lack of communication and rustiness contributed to 4 easy goals as the Saints managed to secure a hard fought win.

The Saints didn't have it easy as Captain Malik inspired the team to secure the lead. Shafiq collected the ball from left field and sent a cross field ball to Hanaffi who crossed the ball into the box with Malik unmarked, as the captain put his name on the scoring sheet for the first time this season.

A defensive lapse caused the game to tie, and then Saints managed to secure the lead.

But 2 minutes before half-time, Neneng equalised. A tussle from the ball outside the box by Adam, winning it from a Saints defender, picked Neneng out and squared it, and the First XI trialist scored from outside the box.

Neneng was on the scoring sheet again in the second half as the Lions were trailing 2-3 and won a free kick from 20 yards out. A class top corner strike sent the bench wild as it gave the Lions a chance with 20 minutes left on the clock.

But a goalkeeping error 5 minutes to the end left the Lions with much to learn as they got their 2nd loss in a row.
