Sunday Premier League Season 9 Division 1

  • Week 19: Rangers suffer successive heavy defeat in Week 19!

1 match was played in Week 19 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1 as the season enters its final stages.

APMFC hosted Rangers United at Anderson Secondary School in the 1pm kick off. While the hosts were not in league action the previous weekend, the away side were coming off the back of a disappointing result against Happy Feet. The result clearly affected their players’ confidence as they started the game without conviction and making too many mistakes. APMFC pounced on their opponent’s errors and punished them by scoring goal after goal in their relentless attacks. Rangers scored a consolation goal late in the piece but it was of no consequence as APMFC ran out convincing 10-1 winners.

  • Week 17: Goals aplenty in Week 17 of PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1!

With the postponement of the match between Stellar Utd and Height Rovers, only 2 matches were played in Week 17 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1.

APMFC faced Happy Feet at Anderson Secondary School in a rematch of the Week 11 tie that Happy Feet won by 6 goals to 2. The visitors were in confident mood after comfortably beating Height Rovers the previous weekend. And it was more of the same in this encounter as Happy Feet enjoyed the majority of possession and chances. APMFC were no pushovers themselves and created several good chances against their opponents. The openness of the game resulted in goals flying in from both sides. Despite scoring thru efforts from Farouq Farkhan (4) and Nur Ayat (3), APMFC were unable to withstand the goal scoring exploits of Happy Feet as the away side blitzed to a 11-7 victory.

Over at Woodlands Secondary School, Bestia United visited Rangers United eager to get back to footballing action after being away from the field of play for several weeks. The match was a cagey affair in the beginning as both sides tried to find some rhythm in their play. The floodgates soon opened after the first goal was scored and it was anyone’s game for the taking. It was to be Rangers’ day as they secured all 3 points with a narrow 4-3 win over the unlucky Bestia side.

Stellar Utd welcomed Dayak FC to Bedok View Secondary School for the 3pm kick-off. With both teams not in any action the previous weekend, they were eager to get onto the field of play. Height Rovers welcomed Happy Feet to Ang Mo Kio Secondary School for the early kick-off. With both clubs not in league action the previous weekend, they were eager to get the game off and running. Despite facing former champions in Height Rovers, Happy Feet threw caution to the wind and went all out to attack the hosts’ backline. • Week 12: Happy Feet maintain unbeaten run!

3 matches kicked off in Week 12 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1.

In the early kick off at Bedok View Secondary School, APMFC hosted Height Rovers. APMFC went into the game off the back of a poor result against Happy Feet the previous weekend. Height Rovers on the other hand was victorious against Stellar Utd in Week 11. The match was a slow burner as both sides were contented on sitting back and allowing their opponents to have the ball. In the later match at the same venue, Dayak FC and Happy Feet went into their league game on similar highs after registering huge wins in Week 11. And the match certainly did not disappoint as both teams went all out in search of the 3 points on offer. Despite having a player sent off for a secong bookable offence, Happy Feet were resilient in defence and sharper in attack as they slotted in 2 goals to end up winning the contest by 2 goals to nil.

Finally, Bestia United hosted Rangers United at Anderson Secondary School in the last match of the day. Both sides have not been in good form recently and were hopeful of an upturn in fortunes in the match. Aided by Man-of-the-Match Hariz Talib, it was Bestia who seized the initiative to surge ahead in the contest. Goals from Hariz (2), Aiman Haziq (2), Hakim Abu, Azril Othman, Ryan Sufiyan and Ahmad Mad gave the hosts an uncatchable lead as Rangers only managed to reply thru efforts from Alagendran and Vijay Kumaran. • Week 8: Stop the press! Bestia finally wins!

Two matches were played over Week 8 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League.

In the first of the 3pm kick-offs, Dayak FC hosted Height Rovers at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School. Both these clubs were not in league action the previous weekend and were itching to be on the field of play. It was the visitors that had the better chances in the opening exchanges of the match. Muhd Ramadan aka Zladan replied for the hosts but 3 further goals from the visitors meant that Height Rovers ran out deserved 4-1 winners.

Over at Bedok View Secondary School, Stellar Utd took on Bestia United. Stellar were hoping to inflict another defeat on the luckless Bestia team as the match started evenly from the first whistle. • Week 7: No home comforts for teams in Week 7!

The fixture list in Week 7 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 7 gave a glimmer of hope for some of the struggling sides in the league to garner some much needed points as they look to benefit from home ground advantage.

Bestia United hosted APMFC at Coral Secondary School hoping to arrest a poor start to the season. The home side, who have yet to register a point in the campaign, threw caution to the wind and went on the offensive from the first whistle. That left gaps in their backline that allowed the forwards from APMFC to exploit. Faiz Kobes Rooney and Nur Ayat notched 2 goals apiece alongside a strike from Aqi Ahmad Eunos to put APMFC in the driver’s seat. Despite scoring thru Ryan Sufiyan, Aiman Haziq and a guest player, Bestia were unable to rescue the points as they eventually lost 3-5 to their more assured opponents.

It was a similar story over at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School as Rangers United faced free scoring Happy Feet. After putting 6 past Dayak FC the previous weekend, the visitors were confident of another 3 points against Rangers United who are lying at the wrong end of the league table. There was only one team in the contest as Happy Feet controlled the majority of the possession. Rangers were unable to withstand their opponent’s onslaught and had to retrieve the ball from the back of the net a total of 11 times! “The only positive moment for us was the goal scored by Muhammad Firas. We lost to a better team” admitted the Rangers United team manager after the game.

  • Week 6: Happy Feet ends Dayak FC’s 100% record!

Week 6 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1 saw 3 matches being played over the weekend.

In the early kick-off, Happy Feet welcomed Dayak FC to Bedok South Secondary School. Both clubs went into the game boasting huge victories in their previous league matches and were looking to continue their winning ways. Right from the off, there seem to be only one team in the contest – Happy Feet. They dominated possession and created the better chances to penetrate their opponents’ defence. Happy Feet finished the match with a huge 6-0 victory as Dayak suffered an off day to end their winning run in the league campaign.

The action continued at the Bedok South Secondary pitch as Height Rovers faced Bestia United in the lunchtime game. Height Rovers were raring for league action after their previous match was postponed while Bestia were eyeing a chance to halt their poor start to the league campaign with a good showing. And the match certainly did not disappoint as both teams took turns to initiate opportunities to gain a foothold on the game. Despite scoring thru Aiman Haziq (2) and Ryan Sufiyan, Bestia were still on the short end of the stick as Height Rovers scored 4 of their own to win the tie by the odd goal in 7. After 6 weeks of competition, Bestia have still yet to register a single point.

The final match at the Bedok South pitch was a mid-table clash between APMFC and Stellar Utd. Both these clubs did not play in Week 5 and were itching for some footballing action. Right from the referee’s whistle, both teams showed their eagerness to steal the lead against their opponent. Goal scoring chances were evenly shared between the two teams as they took turns to test their rival’s goalkeeper. APMFC’s hot shot Farouq Farkhan scored twice to add to a Nur Ayat strike as they picked up a slim 3-2 win over a Stellar team who managed to score thru Niki Iskandar and Faozi aka Ozi.

  • Week 5: Dayak maintains 100% win record as Happy Feet secure first win

There were 2 matches played over the weekend of Week 5 in the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1.

Firstly, Bestia United hosted their 2nd home match of the season at Anderson Secondary School as they took on Happy Feet. Both teams have yet to win in the league so far and were looking to improve on their league standings with the 3 points on offer. Aiman Haziq was in good scoring form as he netted twice for Bestia before Ryan Sufiyan added the third. However the visitors managed to regroup and even surged ahead in the contest as they blasted 9 goals past the Bestia goalkeeper. The game ended 9-3 in favor of Happy Feet as they picked up their first ever victory in the X-League.

Next up, two teams with conflicting fortunes faced up at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School as Dayak FC met Rangers United. Dayak were the team on the up with a 100% win record in the league campaign while Rangers have yet to pick up a single point in the new season of the X-League thus far. Dayak started brightly as they scored an early goal thru Nicolas Miranda. Muhammad Firas pulled one back for the visitors after Muhd Ramadan aka Zladan had netted Dayak’s 2nd of the match. In the 2nd half, it was more of all out attack by Dayak as Rangers struggled to keep pace with their opponents. Further goals by Muhammad Fadzli aka Aly Ballack, Wiping Juniens (2) and Muhammad Akbar aka Akbar (2) gave the home team a resounding 7-2 victory as they pick up their 3rd win of the season. “In the second half, our defence and midfield were not working in tandem and that resulted in us playing badly.” said a disappointed Rangers United team manager after the game.

  • Week 4: 2 wins in 2 matches for Height Rovers & Dayak FC!

Division 1 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League saw 2 matches being played as the competition entered its 4th week.

After several false starts, Week 4 finally saw the debut of league newcomers, Happy Feet. They welcomed the challenge of a strong Stellar Utd side at Bedok View Secondary School. Having not been involved in any matches the previous weekend, both clubs were looking fresh heading into the tie. And they went into the game with all guns blazing. Despite some creative wing play by the home side, it was Stellar who created the better clear-cut chances. And they managed to score 6 times from the opportunities created. Although Happy Feet managed to find the net 4 times through out the game, their chance of at least securing a draw were hampered when they had a player sent off by the referee. Final score Happy Feet 4 – 6 Stellar Utd.

Over at Anderson Secondary School, traditional X-League rivals faced off as Height Rovers hosted APMFC. Both teams were currently having 100% records in the league thus far and were hopeful of extending their win streak over their opponents. The match began on a cautious note as both sides sized each other up. Each team were able to initiate attacks on the opponents goal and both goalkeepers were tested through out the game. In the end it was Height Rovers who managed to finish off most of their goalscoring opportunities and ended the match as worthy 4-3 winners. The win was Height Rovers 3rd in a row and it sets them up as firm favorites for the division’s top prize.

  • Week 3: 2 wins in 2 matches for Height Rovers & Dayak FC!

There were 2 matches played in Division 1 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League over the weekend.

Jugar Duro and Height Rovers were playing their 2nd league game of the season as they faced off at Anderson Secondary School. Having lost their opening game, Jugar Duro was looking to get back to winning ways against an accomplished Height Rovers side. The match was fiery to say the least with possession being fought for and plenty of tackles flying about. It was little wonder that the game did not end with 22 players on the pitch as the referee dismissed players from both sides. At the end of the intense match-up, it was Height Rovers who emerged victorious as they secured a 3-2 away win against their hapless opponents.

In the other game played at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, Bestia United opened their league campaign by hosting Dayak FC. After securing a win in their league opener against Stellar Utd last weekend, Dayak were confident of their chances against Bestia who were not up to speed as yet. And they raced to a 3-0 lead by the 10th minutes after goals from Muhd Ramadan aka Zladan (2) and Mohd Aliff. Although Bestia came back to equalize through efforts from Ryan Sufiyan (2) and Syahmi, the visitors did not give up and went all out for the winner. Man-of the match Min Thiha struck his team’s 4th goal and Ramadan got his hat-trick goal as Dayak garnered their second 3 points of the season and condemn Bestia to a loss in their opening fixture.

  • Week 2: Champions back with a bang!

Week 2 of the new PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1 season saw 2 out 4 fixtures being played as defending champions APMFC made their return to league football.

Playing in the earlier time slot, APMFC paid a visit to Rangers United. The match, held at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, was the first game of the season for both teams. And the visitors wasted no time in carrying on where they stopped the last season. A combination of possession football and quality chances allowed APMFC to bang in 9 goals against a Rangers side who had no answer to APMFC’s attacking prowess. It finished 9-1 in favor of the reigning champions as they began the defence of their title with an emphatic victory. An optimistic Rangers team manager said after the match – “Our defence and midfield were not in tandem today thus our opponent took advantage of the situation. We are hopeful of playing better in the next game.”

Over at Bedok South Secondary School, Dayak FC started their season by welcoming Stellar Utd to their home turf. The match started with both teams being cautious of giving away possession to the opponents and chances were few and far between. It soon changed after the first goal was scored. Dayak assumed control of the game after that and went on to record their first victory of the season over their hapless opposition. The final score was Dayak FC 5 – 1 Stellar Utd.

  • Week 1: Home comforts for Height Rovers and Stellar Utd

Season 9 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 1 kicked off over the weekend and league heavyweights Height Rovers and Stellar Utd wasted no time in stamping their mark in the new season.

Height Rovers made light work of Rangers United in their early kick off at Unity Secondary School. In a match that the home side dominated possession, Rangers United struggled and eventually lost 4-1 to the former X-League champions.

Stellar Utd had a more challenging time against Jugar Duro Football Club. The match, played at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School, pitted two of the sides challenging for the league title the previous season. In the end, it was Stellar who emerged victorious with a 5-2 win to pick up their first victory of the new season.
