Sunday Premier League Season 9 Division 2

  • Week 20: Comfortable wins for ESG & Assumption in Week 20!

Week 20 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2 saw 2 matches taking place at the same time.

The first match saw Camel United hosting ESG at Coral Secondary School. Camel was not in action the previous weekend while ESG were narrow winners over Forty4 FC. The hosts did not enjoy a good start to the game as the visiting ESG penned them back in their own half with constant waves of attacking play. Unable to hold out for long, Camel conceded the first of many to a brilliant ESG strike. ESG kept on pummeling the Camel goal with shots and raked up the score line to eventually win the contest by 13 goals to 2.

Over at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School, Assumption FC took on Forty4 FC. Both clubs did not have too great a result in Week 19 of the competition. While Assumption was held to a 3-3 draw by 529’ers, Forty4 was unlucky to be on the losing side against ESG. The match was an open affair as both sides had equal chances in the game. In the end, it was the Assumption forwards who were more clinical in front of goal and it ended with victory for the home team by a 5-2 score line.

  • Week 19: ESG secure maximum points as 529’ers & Assumption settle for a draw

Two matches were played in Week 19 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2.

At Anderson Secondary School, league leaders 529’ers hosted Assumption FC in a rematch of the Week 17 tie that ended in a 1-1 draw. Both clubs were determined to get a positive result from the game to aid in their final league standings. The match was a feisty affair and the referee was kept busy throughout the contest. Over at Queensway Secondary School, ESG faced Forty4 FC in the late kick-off. After defeating Entertainers FC with ease in Week 18, ESG was looking for another positive result that will see them make a late charge to the league summit. Standing in their way was a Forty4 side that have been in relatively good form lately. The match was a slowburner as both sides took time to size their opponents up. As the match wore on, they created equal chances to take the lead and were let down by some poor finishing and equally top goalkeeping. ESG managed to edge the contest as they ended with 3 goals to Forty4’s 2 as they secured another priceless 3 points in their surge to the top of the league table. Final score: ESG 3-2 Forty4 FC.

  • Week 16: ESG edge out closest rivals to catch league leaders!

Week 16 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2 saw 3 matches taking place over the weekend.

The early kick-off featured Forty4 FC against Assumption FC at Anderson Secondary School. Both teams have not been in league action recently and were hoping to use the match to kick-start their ascend up the league table. The match was a slow burner as both sides took time to shake off their match rust. It was to be Forty4’s day as they took charge of the game and scored 3 goals. Assumption could only muster up a single goal reply as they ended on the wrong side of a 3-1 score line.

Entertainers FC went up against 529’ers at Bedok Green Secondary School in the 3pm game. The hosts were wary of their opponents who were on a high after trashing Berossia Dokmano in Week 15. And it was no surprise that 529’ers started the brighter of the 2 sides. They controlled every area of the pitch and did not allow Entertainers any time on the ball to affect the game. Despite conceding a 15th minute goal to Astley, 529’ers went on a scoring spree and netted 5 goals to claim all 3 points.

Over at Bedok South Secondary School, ESG faced Camel United in an exciting encounter. Both teams were looking to claim maximum points to aid in their quest to chase the leading team in the division. And it was ESG who was the dominant force in the match. The hosts were sturdy in defence and lethal in attack as they lay barrage on their opponent’s goalmouth. Their concerted efforts bore fruit as they bagged 4 goals and kept a clean sheet as they ran out easy 4-0 winners.

529’ers hosted Camel United in the 11am game at Bedok Green Secondary School. Both teams go into the match on the back of contrasting results. While the hosts were beaten 2-0 by ESG, Camel walked away with a comfortable 6 nil win over Forty4 FC the previous weekend. The match started evenly with both clubs enjoying equal possession. Over at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, Forty4 FC did battle with Entertainers FC in the late game. With both teams looking to better their league standings, the result of the match weighed heavily on the minds of the players. • Week 11: Berossia and Entertainers serve up a goal fest in Week 11!

Week 11 of the X-League season saw 3 matches being played in Division 2 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League.

529’ers faced Forty4 FC at Anderson Secondary School in the early kick-off. These 2 teams first met back in Week 5 when 529’ers edged out Forty4 FC by 2 goals to 1. It was similarly a close affair in this encounter as both teams traded bards and tried to gain the advantage in claiming all 3 points. 529’ers were more clinical in front of goal as they scored thru efforts from Muhammad Faizal aka Bhai and Firdaus Elias aka Aus. Despite managing to score thru a Hairul Majid goal, Forty4 FC were not able to salvage the match as they went down to a narrow 2-1 defeat.

In the late match at the same venue, Assumption FC went head to head with ESG in the reverse fixture of the Week 3 encounter. It was ESG that was victorious with a comprehensive win then and Assumption was hopeful of exacting some form of revenge in this tie. The two sides were evenly matched for the early parts of the game before ESG started to impose their dominance on the game. They found the back of Assumption’s net 4 times through out the contest and would only conceded twice to their opponents. It ended in favour of ESG with the scoreline of 4 goals to 2.

The final game was between Berossia Dokmano and Entertainers FC. The match which took place at Bedok View Secondary School, started brightly with both teams taking turns to craft out opportunities on the opponents’ goal. And it did not take long before the first goal of the game arrived. That opened the floodgates and soon it developed into a goal fest. Entertainers hit the back of the net with goals from James Ou (2), Selvarajan Ragunath aka Ragu, Lim Janus, S.Prasath and two strikes from their guest player. Despite their best efforts, Berossia Dokmano were unable to find the elusive equalizer and they eventually lost the match by the odd goal in 11. “ We conceded some poor goals today but thankfully we won in the end” said a relieved Entertainers FC team manager after the game.

  • Week 10: Back to back wins for Camel United!

Division 2 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League saw 2 matches being played as the season enters its 10th week.

In the early kick-off, Forty4 FC hosted ESG at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School. Both these clubs were slated to match up back in Week 6 but the tie was postponed and this tie provided the very first meeting between the 2 sides. Despite being the away side, ESG were the more dominant team in the contest and were rarely troubled. They went on to score 7 times in the match as Forty4 FC struggled to keep their opponents at bay. Firdaus ‘Nan’ provided the only positive note for the hosts as he bagged his side’s consolation goal as the match ended 7-1 in favor of the visitors.

The following game at Ang Mo Kio Secondary featured Assumption FC and Camel United. Camel United were riding high from their win over Berossia Dokmano in Week 9 while Assumption are back in league action after a 5 week hiatus. The time away seemed to have disrupted their usual pattern of play as Assumption FC failed to keep possession of the football and often surrendered the initiative to the visiting team. While they did managed to get on the scoresheet once, Assumption were unable to keep out the Camel attackers as they mounted countless attempts at the Assumption goal. It paid dividends as Salman, Rudy, Danil and Adam found the back of the net as they steered their side to a comfortable 4-1 away victory.

  • Week 8: Away teams score vital victories in Week 8!

Week 8 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League saw 2 matches taking place as the season hots up in Division 2.

Fresh from a trashing they delivered to Sportcare FC the previous weekend, 529’ers were pretty confident of their chances against an inconsistent Camel United side. The match, played at Bedok South Secondary School, started off cautiously as both teams were wary of giving anything away. In a match of few chances, the game was a stop-start affair as both sides committed plenty of fouls. In the end, It was 529’ers who emerged victorious by 2 goals to 1 in match that had more yellow cards flashed than goals scored!

Following that match, Entertainers FC and Forty4 FC took to the Bedok South Secondary pitch in another exciting encounter. Having lost their last league match, Entertainers were rather skeptical of their chances in the game as they started the match without several regular players. Waiting to pounce on the opportunity was a Forty4 side who has not been in league action for 2 weeks. The time away did not disrupt Forty4’s general play as they strung together some quality passes to create the game’s best chances. An Asmaan ‘Mika’ hat trick and goals from Amirul Raimi (2), Muhammad Fahmie and Safian ‘Yand’ lead the way for Forty4 FC who cruised to a 7-3 victory. “ Despite goals from Hafiz, Janus and Helme, we were seriously weakened by not having our full squad today. Better game next time!” said a disappointed Entertainers Team Manager after the game.

  • Week 7: 529’ers deliver a hammering to Sportcare in Week 7!

All eyes were focused on Bedok View Secondary School as the solitary game in Division 2 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League was played between Sportcare FC and 529’ers.

With both teams at opposing ends of the league table, many were expecting a lop-sided match. And it certainly went to script as 529’ers began dominating possession and creating chance after chance. Sportcare had no answer to their opponents’ attacking prowess as they witnessed Fareed Gafoor aka eed, Afiq Osman aka Fiq GB, Taufiq Jumahat (3) and several guest players struck the back of their net throughout the game. Izwan Abdul Rahman aka Wawin from 529’ers provided the highlight of the match by scoring 4 brilliant goals enroute to claiming the Man-of-the-Match award. There were 2 matches played on Week 6 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2 weekend.

Camel United came up against Berossia Dokmano at Anderson Secondary School. While the home side had a break from league matches the previous weekend, the visitors suffered a hefty defeat at the hands of ESG and were looking for a better performance in this game. • Week 5: Goals galore in Week 5!

It was a busy weekend of football as 3 matches kicked off in Week 5 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2.

The first game saw a battle between 2 newcomers to the X’League as ESG took on Berossia Dokmano at Coral Secondary School. Having stumbled slightly against 529’ers the previous weekend, ESG was looking to get back to winning ways against a Berossia Dokmano side that has been having an inconsistent season so far. The inconsistency proved telling as the visitors laboured to keep out the attacks by a relentless ESG side. Despite managing to get on the scoresheet twice, Berossia let in 7 goals in their end and surrendered the match to their more determined opponents. Final score: ESG 7-2 Berossia Dokmano.

Over at Anderson Secondary School, Forty4 FC hosted 529’ers. Both clubs are still finding their form in the early stages of the campaign and were looking to get one over the other in this contest. The match itself was an even encounter as both teams nullified each other’s attacks. A clinical finish by Nasruun ‘Unn’ for Forty4 FC was cancelled out by 2 goals from 529’ers as the visitors earned a befitting 2-1 away victory.

Lastly, Entertainers FC welcomed the visit of Assumption FC at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School. The home side were raring to go against an opponent that has been winless so far in the league season. After a bright opening 20 minutes to the game, Entertainers were 2-0 ahead courtesy of goals from Astley and Jonathan Xu. It was more of the same from the home side in the 2nd half as they continued to pile on the pressure on the Assumption goalmouth. Kartikgesan Manikam aka Kartik, Lim Janus and Irfan Bin Sazali added 3 more goals for Entertainers while Assumption managed to score a consolation goal via their guest player. It was the first match of the season for the visitors while Camel United was recently on the losing end against Forty4 FC. Both sides had their chances in the game with Entertainers edging it slightly in terms of possession and opportunities created. They looked to be heading for a victory before Camel United struck late to end the match at 3-3 to leave both teams with 1 point. “We could have held on for the win but conceded a late goal. We will improve!” said a positive Entertainers team manager after the match.

Bedok View Secondary School provided the setting for the league meeting between 529’ers and free-scoring ESG. Both clubs went into the match off the back of impressive league victories the previous weekend and were hoping to continue their fine form in the campaign. The match started cautiously as both teams traded barbs to test each other out. Chances were few and far between as both clubs tried to maintain some rhythm in their play. Despite having a player sent off, ESG still managed to score thru their guest player while Taufiq Jumahat netted for 529’ers. The final score line was 529’ers 1 – 1 ESG.

  • Week 3: Another week, another convincing win for ESG!

3 matches were played out in Week 3 of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Divison 2.

In the first game, Berossia Dokmano hosted 529’ers at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School. It was Dokmano’s first home match in their maiden season of the X’league and they were hoping to do one better than the draw they picked up against Assumption FC in their season opener. Their opponents on the other hand were seasoned campaigners in the league and that perhaps gave them the edge over their hosts. Despite some early promise by Dokmano, 529’ers soon wrestled control of the game and were rewarded with 2 nicely taken goals. The match ended in favor of the visitors as they begin their league campaign with a victory.

Over at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, Assumption FC visited the surprise package of Division 2 so far – ESG. Despite securing a point in their league opener the previous weekend, Assumption were wary of the attacking threat possessed by ESG who annilated Sportcare FC by 16 goals without reply. And it was no surprise that the home side took control of the game from the first whistle. Led by the in-form Luis Suarez, ESG created chance after chance and penetrated their opponents’ goal. Assumption had no reply to ESG’s supremacy as they suffered a 7-0 loss to leave them searching for their 1st win of the season.

The final match was between Forty4 FC and Camel United. The match, played at Anderson Secondary School, pitted X-league veteran Forty4 and newboys Camel United. It was an open game between two sides who have never faced each other before and Forty4’s experience was telling as they held the upperhand through out the match. Nasruun ‘Unn’ was the toast of his team as he struck a hat-trick to lead Forty4 FC to an easy 4-2 victory over their luckless opponents.

  • Week 2: ESG introduce themselves to the league in grand fashion!

It has been a refreshing start to the new season of the PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2 with the inclusion of several new teams to the roster.

Making their debut in the X-League was Berossia Dokmano who faced the challenge of seasoned campaigners Assumption FC at Woodlands Secondary School. Berossia more than held their own against their more experienced opponents and despite having a man sent off in the game, they were able to see out the match and begin their season with a draw. Final score : Assumption FC 1 – 1 Berossia Dokmano.

In the other league match, Sportcare FC were looking to bounce back from their heavy opening day defeat to Forty4 FC as they travelled to Unity Secondary School. Standing in their way was another league debutant – ESG. The home side wasted no time from the referee’s whistle to begin an all-out assault on their opponents’ goal. ‘Luis Suarez’ was the toast of ESG as he propelled his team to dizzy heights as they plummelled 16 goals past the hapless Sportcare’s goalkeeper without reply. The final result meant that ESG begin their season with 3 vital points while Sportcare are still searching for their first after 2 rounds of matches.

  • Week 1: Welcome to the X-League Sportcare FC

It was a harsh welcome to the X-League for newcomer Sportcare FC as the new PSB Academy Sunday Premier League Division 2 season beagn in unison.

Playing in their first ever X-League game, Sportcare looked like a fish out of water as they failed to keep pace with the intensity of the match. Despite playing on home turf at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School, Sportcare FC allowed their opponents Forty4 FC to dictate the game. Nasiruddin aka Udin was the star player for the visitors as he bagged a hat-trick to lead his team to an easy 6-0 victory. Nasruun ‘Unn’, Ridhuan ‘Wankenet’ and Salihin ‘Hin’ completed the scoring for Forty4 FC as they took the first 3 points of the season.
