Team Report

Team Report

Taking the German All Stars on at their home ground over at the German European School ground was always going to be a tough ask. Having a depleted squad made it that much tougher for Kamikaze MMXV.

Nevertheless, the boys in red took the game to their opponents and dominated possession all round. They showed neat passing plays and quick 1-2s that the Germans could not handle.

Only a missed penalty and a shot that went narrowly wide allowed the game to finish goalless in a half that should have seen MMXV lead by 2 at least.

The boys then regrouped and decided to throw all they had by playing two on top and the move paid dividends as a quick break between the two forwards saw Kavi play Harvin on and the nippy striker made no mistake to grab his second in as many games to give Kamikaze the lead. It was short-lived though as a unforced error saw the team concede a corner and the Germans made their aerial superiority count with a textbook header.

Kamikaze then turned on the heat and began wave after waves of attacks and one such move saw the irrepressible Kaviraj once again turn provider as he took two defenders to the cleaners before squaring for Taufiq to finish and restore the lead. But once again, the Germans’ resilience were rewarded, albeit with a huge stroke of luck that saw a freekick wrongly awarded at the edge of the box. They took their chance though and a deflection saw the game end 2-a-piece.

The neutrals had been hoping for an upset and while Kamikaze MMXV finally dropped points, they kept their unbeaten streak alive and their title chances still stay squarely within their hands. In all it was a fair result between two hardworking teams who may have different philosophies in football but conducted themselves with the same passion and the best of spirits.
