Team Report

NEFC vsHeart Sparks FC

The first time donning of their Blue Kit came at a time where nature sends mixed signals to NEFC. Completely drenched in the heavy showers even before kick off may really mean very different things especially after getting so accustomed to wearing our Orange kit week in week out. We simply had to play on and get started to find out its outcome. Boots heavy, socks soaked, the ref got the game underway. At the back of our hearts, we prayed the game goes on to the end, hopefully the weather turns gracious for all us out there, ref and linemen and the X-League rep included.

First 20 mins was all about getting settled. Battling for possession and passing the ball around was a tat tougher than usual given the flooded turf and the continuous pouring of the rain affecting vision. Heart Sparks made it even tougher with unrelenting runs and resolute defending and countless sliding tackles breaking our play.

Having dealt with quick counters from Heart Sparks FC, NEFC managed our first goal in the 22nd min from a quick break down the left combined with a series of nice passed found Aciq who fired the ball home from just outside the penalty area beating the superb shot stopper this time round to his left.

35th min NEFC managed another. This was a story of a true wingers magic down the flank. Zaid did almost a replica of Ryan Giggs FA Cup goal vs Arsenal. Only differences were he did it on the right and that he was a little more selfless. Ball was squared to Aciq for a left foot finish to make it 2-0.

40th minute Aciq scored again. Through a retaken penalty. Aciq was clearly made to work harder to complete his hattrick. Having been brought down in the penalty area, his first penalty kick was disallowed as his better half Zad stepped into the box prior to the shot being despatched. Aciq stepped up again and and scored placing it to the top corner of the keepers left. His first hattrick hope fully not the last.

Half Time NEFC 3 -0 Heart Sparks FC

Second half started with our prayers answered. The rain cleared up and the pitch got better.
We were in for a more intensed 2nd half.

It was not long after the game restarted NEFC added on the the lead.
On the 44th min, deservingly so NEFCs hardworking Faris lobbed the keeper from an acute angle on the right meeting a inch perfect cross from Hafiz form the left.

From then on, it was all about protecting the lead and not conceding, while we may be accused of being wasteful, we were kept busy with the resilience of Heart Sparks attack. These young lads were exceptional on the counter.
Fortunately, the scoreline did not change til the final whistle was blown. Unfortunate though was Zads yellow, though clearly unintentional, the timing of his challenge was clearly too much of a mistimed one. End of the day, outcome was, the new Blue was a blessed one. Touched by nature so we think.

Full Time: NEFC 4 - 0 Heart Sparks FC

Thank you ref for good judgement on the playing conditions and letting the game go on. Thank you all for participating in a memorable wet wet affair.
Thank you Heart Sparks FC, hopefully the next time round we shall all be spared from being in what looked like a Wet T-shirt contest. ;)

Team Report

It was a game of David versus Goliath. Us bottom against League leaders who score goals for fun. Knowing that a draw is a huge upset but all we want is to enjoy the game.

Having few players unavailable due to work commitments, injury & down with virus, we came down without any Goalkeeper. Hamzah was made to stand in between the post. It was his first debut as a GK for the team.

As the first whistle sounded, the rain start to pour & got very heavy during the first half.

We start the game strongly cutting down their attacks. Wan senior was under pressure but manage to contain their attackers. Hamzah making a string of fine save to deny the opponent. Bazil & Adi  was controlling the back line well. On the other end of the  wan neymar, hang & the attackers have some golden opportunity but fail to convert it.

We are in control of our game & the league leaders start to wonder what they should do to unlock our defence. But on 22nd minute, a shot from the our right edge of the penalty box which beats 2 defenders & our keeper straight to the top corner. it was a goal that can label as Goal of the week in any top league in the world.

Eastroids keep pushing on but our defenders & keeper keep them at bay. But a strong run by eastroids on the waterlogged pitch beating defenders then give a through pass to his teammate to unleash a powerful shot that beat our keeper on 35min.

With the slippery surface, a careless challenge by our defenders to give eastroids the penalty. The first penalty was retaken due to infringement but the retaken penalty went to the top corner. A penalty that even world class shots stoppers will have trouble saving that. 3-0 to eastroids on 40min & half time.

We starts the game the same way & having Yan coming in to marshal the defence.

Few minutes into the 2nd half, a through diagonal ball by eastroids  to the our left who float the ball across the 6 yard box that  Hamzah lazily watch it like a balloon, to any attacker to volley over the Hamzah in acute angle into the net. 4-0 to eastroids.

We have our chance to put one back but Syafaell was controversially offside & his another cross is too high to find anyone.

Bazil also have another chance With a header but the boy who spend last few weeks playing, watching & training in Australia failed to connect it cleanly.

With another string of great save, Hamzah landed awkwardly not once but twice & injured his shoulder in process. An X ray show that there is no fractured or dislocated but a strain on his left deltoids & trapezius Muscle.

Wan Senior have to replace hamzah In goal & he did well to to shut eastroids. Yan commanding & defending was great that any opponent must never take him for granted.

As the final whistle blows, HSFC 0-4 New Eastroids.
A game that average  pundit will predict a double digit Trashing.

We lost to 4 world class goals but most importantly we enjoy & happy with our performance. Kudos to the boys for the performance & we will get stronger as the league progress.

Thanks Eastroids for the game & experience. Wish you the best in the league endeavour.
