[X-League Division 5] - Match Day 13/10

MWFC 3 : 1 Deaf United

Scorers: Leonard Teoh x 2, Sam Kanthikesan Sivakumar [Edwin Loi Xue Qian missed penalty]
Assist: Melvin Tan, Sam, Weihao Ng
MOM: Leonard

10minutes of brilliance killed the game off, "fatty" Leonard shown great determination, shines and proves superior edge over Deaf United.

Once again, we conceded an early goal just 5mins into game, due to a defensive error by Benson Chua who could have cleared the danger but failed to, opponents took advantage and slams a goal into the net.

Wolves only managed to break through a couple of times, and one of it was close enough with a superb left foot shot from Sam, which sees the goalie a television save. Another came close with Ryan almost getting a equalizer from the corner but the defender clears it off and Benedict managed to recover the ball, did a couple of step-over and finds himself into the box and was brought down a clumsy tackle, penalty awarded. However, Edwin failed to convert from the spot and sends the ball over the crossbar. Tough luck!

Almost a fresh new team was sent into the 2nd half, with veterans Wenjie & Welson sitting in the defensive midfield role, Leonard & Melvin up the flanks and Weihao up front leading the attack. Also did a shuffle for our fullbacks with Qiyi & Wayne coming in for Adrian & Benson.

Equalizer came shortly after half-time, Wenjie spotted Melvin's run and sent a dipping ball over the defense, which he then crosses and switch the ball over to the left and Leonard took the defender on and delivers a long shot outside the box and sends the keeper diving in but still couldn't do anything about it.

Just 5mins after the spectacular equalizer, Sam delivers a long pass over to Leonard whom then again did the exact same thing, scores with a similar strike! Keeper was totally beaten, twice!

Deaf United still continued to play a ultra high line and Welson did a flick to lay a pass to Weihao and he was cleared off the line of defenders. Running into the space and into the box, with a good angle but he unselfishly lays the ball into the path Leonard to complete his hat-trick, but Sam came by first and taps in the goal. Sam totally robbed Leonard's chance! But still, an awesome linkup play by the WHs! (Welson Hong & Weihao)

Delwin Tan was outstanding destroying all the balls played in the middle of the park, not just that, he sent multiple killer ball for Melvin whom did exceptionally well in the runs but however failed to convert those chances. Could have been a few goals added but nevertheless great vision there Wenjie!

Our defense was rock solid ever since the wake up call after the goal conceded during first half, especially our captain, Ang Peng Chong did his utmost duty to keep our gates closed along side with Yeo Han Xiang Wayne & Qiyi. The centre back partnership is deem almost invincible! Hanxiang was almost everywhere sliding in to prevent any plays into the box! Not forgetting our stand-in goalie, Raymond whom did well in between the posts and managed to have a couple of good saves and excellent distribution. Well done gate keepers!

The last chance came close with Weihao taking on the defense, rare gesture of trickery found himself skipping past 3 defenders at one go and cleared to the byline, sending a killer ball back into 6yards, Mark took a dummy and Keegan fires a shot first time and sees it past the top corner, so close!!

Once again, we came from behind and eventually won the game from Deaf United twice in a row. Well done Wolves! However, there was still a couple of issues to address.

First half was a total disaster for us, no communication in all departments, not to mention any team-plays. Enough was said during half-time break, but just another reminder to all. We play as a team, finger-pointing and reprimanding each other on the field will not do us good, but only to the opponent's advantage.

Have faith, have trust in our teammates, we ain't professional players thus there will be bound to have mistakes in all. Cant be expecting a 100% passing rate, if anyone of us loses the ball, just win it back and restart the play. We understand that frustrations do kicks in especially when we are losing, but remember, the only way out of it is, keep your head cool, focus and play our game.

We are all adults and I'm sure that you guys are well capable of managing your temper on the pitch, remember we are a team! Any disagreements or arguments, we can always sort it out peacefully later. (Ryan Benedict Benson Kelvin go sort yourself out, chill!)

Rule number one for MWFC: Love the game!
Rule number two: Play as a team, trust your teammates!

Remember teamwork begins by building trust. And the only way to do that is to overcome our need for invulnerability.

As everyone can see, when we play as one unit, as a team, we can play beautiful football. So, lets keep up with this standard and continue our winning streak! We are now keeping it tight for the leaders with just one point behind them, lets not lose focus!

Lastly, the management team wants to applaud every Wolves' team-spirit within them, for the fighting spirit in the pitch and also making the effort in coming down for the games even when some only managed to play for a half or lesser. Keep it up guys! Remember each and every one of you guys are assets of MWFC, without anyone here, there wont be Wolves.

"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships."
