    League Champions Maccabees FC ended their season with a bang, beating second placed Avatar FC in an evenly fought contest at the Cage Sports Park. Two goals from Man of the Match, Johan coupled with Ganesan Toyer’s clinical effort in the 50th min saw the home side come away 3-2 winners in a game which neither side deserved to lose. The win sees Maccabees FC end the season with 33 points, nine ahead of their closest rivals having scored an astounding 72 goals in the process.

  • Week 18: Magnificent 7 leave Midland Wolves howling!

    Maccabees vs Midland Wolves was touted as the clash of the titans in Division 5 of the Sunday Premier League. The game however had only one titan showing up as Maccabees secured the Division 5 crown with a convincing 7-1 win over their arch rivals. The match was over by the midway mark as fine efforts by Ruthra Ram coupled with a hat-trick by Dillen Selvarajoo saw the Maccabees go into the break with a devastating 5 goal lead. Dillen then scored his fourth of the game 14 mins into the second half before Ganesh Rajendran sealed the nail in the coffin 10 mins from time.

    The Maccabees will face second placed Avatar FC in their final game of the season which promises to be a cracker.

  • Week 17: Mohammad Faizal goes into the record books as Avatar FC hit thirteen past Fantasista!

    Avatar FC came within two goals of being in the X-League record books (Highest goal margin victory) when they beat FC Fantasista 13-0 at Anderson Secondary. One person that did make it however is Man of the Match, Mohammad Faizal aka Pekjal who banged seven goals past the opposing goalkeeper. The feat sees him tied in first place for the most number of goals scored by an individual player in a match together with *Xu Rong An(Maestro FC), *Mohamed Zakaria (Oxley City) and *Mohammad Hamdan(Height Rovers).

    Deaf Utd got back to winning ways this week following their 8-0 loss to Avatar FC when they beat FC Fantasista 6-2 at the Khalsa Premier Pitch. The dominant win sees the home side move up to nine points, just three shy of 5th placed Star FC. The loss for FC Fantasista means that the bottom placed club has now conceded 29 goals in their last four matches alone.

  • Week 15: High Scoring weekend sees 19 goals in two matches!

    Avatar FC secured their biggest win to date when they beat Deaf Utd 8-0 at Bedok South Secondary thanks to a hat-trick by Tuan Muhammad Irwan. With the half-time score reading 5-0 in favour of the visitors, Deaf Utd came out of the break with only one thing in mind- Damage Control. However, there was no stopping Irwan, who scored in the 47th, 69th and 70th min. Avarat FC had this to say after the game, “This is Avatar FC’s biggest win thus far this season. Kudos to the boys as we dominated play from start to finish. Credit to Faizal as his two goals just before half-time kind of killed off the game”.

    Over at Pitch One of the Cage Sports Park, league leaders Maccabees FC hit 10 goals past bottom placed FC Fantasista thanks to a hat-trick by leading top goal-scorer Dillen Selvarajoo. The home side had this to say after the mauling, “The Maccabees extend our respects to Fantasista FC for their never-say-die attitude. Despite conceding a truckload of goals, one can only admire the true passion of our opponents for their constant determination to put up a fight and were duly rewarded with a consolation goal. The 3 points from this game would mean that the Maccabees should be able to secure the title on our superior goal difference. Well done lads! Another title in the bag you reckon?? Don't bet against it”.

  • Week 14: Midland Wolves tied on points with league leaders!

    Midland Wolves secured promotion to Division 4 this week following a hard fought 1-0 win over Acolytes at Pitch 2 of the Cage Sports Park. The solitary goal came in the form of a clinical lob by Ryan Mok over the opposing goalkeeper after he latched onto a brilliant through ball from team-mate, Sam Kanthikesan Sivakumar. The Wolves had this to say after the game, “Another win against Acolytes FC secured a promotion slot for MWFC! It was a tough pick between Ryan, Sam & Shawn for the MOM of this game as all three of them were brilliant with their efforts and contributions to the victory. With just one game to go, we face the league leaders and we sure aren't going to let them have an easy time with us!”

    Over at Pitch 3 of the Cage Sports Park, Star FC picked up their third victory of their campaign when they beat FC Fantasista 5-0 in a one sided affair.

  • Week 13: Dillen Selvarajoo goes into the Record Books!

    Dillen Selvarajoo became the second man to score six goals in an X-League match following Maccabees FC’s 8-0 win over Deaf Utd. His amazing feat sees him tied in fourth place under the ‘Most Number of Goals scored by an Individual Player in a Match’ category with only Mohamed Zakaria (Mi Do), Xu Rong An and Mohammad Hamdan (Seven goals each), ranked above him. His side had this to say after the game, “The Maccabees were smarting from their previous defeat to Deaf United and were waiting for this game to set the record straight. The boys needed no motivation after they were forwarded a blog-site link detailing how the Macs were defeated by the silent strength of Deaf United in the previous encounter. Kudos to the Maccabees for winning in style and more importantly, playing with sportsmanship”.

    What you can do, we can do as well! Not wanting to be outshone by the Maccabees, Midland Wolves hit eight goals of their own in their game against FC Fantasista thanks to fine efforts by Weihao Ng, Yeo Han Xiang, Anron Koh, Kanthikesan Sivakumar, Ryan Mok, Alex Xie and Melvin Tan. The Wolves had this to say after their game, “It was a splendid display by MWFC following a two week break. It’s our best result thus far in X-League and we also managed to keep a clean sheet. Overall, we held the ball well with almost 80% possession which rarely happens in other fixtures. We hope to be able to keep the composure we showed in this game in our final two fixtures which will be against Acolytes & Maccabees”.

  • Week 12: Magnificent 7 for Maccabees!

    Goals from Deepan Ron, Seenivasan K, Dillen Selvarajoo, Alex Trifonov and Jeremy Joseph saw Maccabees beat Star FC 7-0 at Pitch Two of the Cage Sports Park. The league leaders had this to say after the match, “After a 2 week break, the Maccabees returned with all guns blazing and secured an important 7-0 win to get back into the winning momentum. A spirited performance from the boys. Everyone put in a good shift and had a good game. Special mention to Ryan our MOTM for his industrious performance. Did not put a foot wrong.”

    In other matches, ten men Avatar FC beat Deaf Utd 3-2 in a match which neither side deserved to lose. Despite going down to ten men in the last five mins of the match, Avatar FC held their nerves to end the game with all three points. Acolytes FC maintained the pressure on the top two when they hit six past FC Fantasista who’ve now conceded 27 goals in their last four matches.

The Wolves were unable to contain Mohammad Faizal, who scored two goals in the match, moving him up to second spot in the top-scorer rakings.

The Wolves had this to say after the game, “It was a great comeback by the boys today! We saw tremendous fighting spirit, determination and passion in every player.     A hat-trick by Muhammad Hasbi and two goals from Muhammad Zuhaili saw Deaf Utd pull off one of the upsets of the season when they beat league leaders Maccabees 5-2 in match which could have gone either way. Excellent goalkeeping on the part of the away side saw Maccabees struggle to keep up with the score-line as Deaf Utd registered their biggest win of their campaign thus far. Over at Bedok Green Secondary, two goals by Tuan Mohammad Irwan and Mohammad Faizal saw Avatar FC beat Star FC 5-3 in a tale of two halves. The away side dominated most of the first half while Avatar managed to score four within a span of ten mins just after the break.

    Howls could be heard at the Khalsa Premier Pitch as Midland Wolves hit seven goals past FC Fantasista to register their second win of the season. The Wolves had this to say after the game, “This victory shifted us back into second place and closed down our goal difference. Well done Wolves! Keep the results coming in. We’re really looking forward to the next fixture”.

Having lost both their opening matches, the Chinese side put on a valiant display which saw them dominate the match from start to finish. Four goals by Dillen Selvarajoo coupled with a hat-trick by Ruthra Ram saw Maccabees FC run riot over Acolytes FC with an 8-1 score-line. The away side had this to say after the game,” This was quite possibly our best performance of the campaign. Brilliant performance from the lads which saw us come away convincing winners”.

  • Week 3: The Avatar prevails!

    Avatar FC secured their first win of the season when they beat Acolytes FC 5-1 with an impressive performance at Pitch 3 of the Cage Sports Park. Faizal gave the home side the lead in the 22nd min before Saiful made it 2-0 when he latched onto a brilliant through ball and slid it past the onrushing goalkeeper just five mins later. Wei Xiong then deservedly pulled a goal back for the away side in the 33rd min. HT 2-1. The elements combined for Avatar in the second half as Faizal blasted home a free-kick from 25yards out in the 45th min before Irwan added two more to put the game beyond their opponents.

    Deaf Utd also notched their first win of the season after back to back defeats against FC Fantasista and Acolytes FC. Goals from Mohamad Rahmat and Nahar Tan complimented a disciplined performance by the away side which deservedly went home with all three points. Maccabees are fast becoming the team to beat in Division 5 when they won their 3rd straight game in a row beating Midland Wolves 5-3 at the Khalsa Premier Pitch.

    A goal by First XI star Muhsin Johari wasn’t enough to stop Deaf Utd from losing their first game of the season when they were beaten 2-1 by Acolytes FC. Having narrowly lost their opening game to Midland Wolves, the home side dug deep this time round to churn out a result. Maccabees continued their impressive start to the season this time hammering 10 goals past a shell shocked Fantasista side who didn’t know what hit them. Welcome to the X-League.

    Over at Pitch 3 of the Cage Sports Park, Midland Wolves and Avatar FC battled to a fierce 2-2 draw in an evenly contested match. The Wolves had this to say after the game, “Once again, we started off slow and Avatar FC were the much the better team in the early minutes of the game. Lack of composure & aggression from our side allowed Avatar FC to play their own game and denied us from to playing ours. A couple of calls went against us in the match but we should have held on to our lead to win this.”

  • Week 1: X-League expands to 5 Divisions featuring wins for Maccabees, Fantasista & Midland Wolves!

    The X-League expanded to five divisions this season with a couple of teams making a league debut for the first time. A solitory goal by Benny ‘Ronaldo’ Chin saw FC Fantasista garner their first win in a competitive social league when they beat Deaf Utd 1-0 in a evenly contested match. Two other teams making debuts were Star FC and Maccabees FC. The away side put on a impressive performance to come away 4-0 winners with Dilon opening the floodgates when he latched onto a through ball and slid it past the keeper.

    Over at Pitch 3 of the Cage Sports Park, Midland Wolves beat Acolytes FC in a match which could have gone either way. The home side had this to say after the game, “A new match venue, new league, new opponents, new start & of course, a newly prepared Midland Wolves Football Club. Alcolytes FC were more organized, had better distribution of play and also a greater number of shots on goal. Equipped with proper training, they managed to be more consistent in their plays, shaved off our defense and were able to test Clayton on numerous attempts. Overall, even though with a win for our debut game, we still have a lot of room for improvement, Still, a good debut win!”
