Team Report

Almost, just almost did Schwarz Star come to overturning a halftime deficit to snatching three points. In the end, those missed chances came around to haunt us as a 35-40 yrd shot by the opponent, snuffed out our chance to draw/win.

LAS FC's player was charging forward when a loose ball rolled to him after our fullback had tripped after receiving a ball thru the three lanes. And his good technique plus loads of good fortune, saw it sailing past our stranded GK with just 5 mins more to go.

SSFC had started the game in a disturbing fashion with abrupt distribution and wayward passing. But it was LAS FC, who took their minimal chances well, earning a goal from the rare corners earned. Despite a call of 'inswinger', SSFC failed to deal with the curling setpiece which sailed past the heads, hands and shoulders of SSFC into the backpost area and snugly into the top right corner.

The team gave a gd reaction as a strong collective effort led to more penetration. In the next 30 mins of the 1H, it would not be unfair to comment that the Falcons had a larger share of the ball and trying to execute an organised footballing approach to winning. The chances came thru our flanks with the Wingers evading awkward tackles but the precision in the final third was sorely missed. There's only that many chances in a game. But we accounted for ourselves so much better as we entered the break.

Yet the feel-good momentum did not last long after the restart - in a preview of the rough luck to come - LAS FC pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the penalty box and rounded a marooned GK to score. An attempted back-header to keep possession backfired as the ball fell short while the keeper was stranded in no-man's land.

Perhaps its the romance of football but those at the sidelines witnessed a monumental turn of the tides as Schwarz Star FC dug deep and bullied their way back into the game.

Credit to the build up play from YQ, as a decisive grenade rolled to the flanks found a rampaging Leon VM, who tore past his marker and pushed a dangerous ball into the middle. And it had to be the iconic Siva, who dished one back to the opponents in their own style, driving home the loose ball after LVM's cross had pin-ball-ed within the middle of the box.

The next goal was down to good team play.

Beginning with some tough work down the left flank from LVM, our flying dutchman layed the ball back hurriedly to the onrushing Chris. Just as the ball was out about to dart out of touch, Chris popped up in time and ... such a sweet sweet peach of a cross from out-wide.

As the ball hung gloriously in the air, our centre forward leaped...Centimetres higher than the Gk's attempted punch, Inches ahead of his marker's forehead, Siva connected with that white peach to make it 2 - 2.

Sadly, we still screwed up eventually to see it end as a 2 - 3 defeat.
