There was a job that needed to be done. It was done. Having led the league table for long parts of the season, Kamikaze MMXV lost control of the narrative after two back to back draws that saw them go a point behind with 3 games left. Pacey Blinders, the new league leaders had been at their resurgent best and no team in the league look like they can get any points off them. If MMXV wanted to win the title, they had to do the work themselves.
With the brief in tow, the Kamikaze management went about methodically to prepare for the game with each player given specific roles. But the biggest role was reserved for the 12th man. We needed the best of fan support to rally our boys to perform the seemingly impossible hit job.
The move paid dividends almost immediately. In what is now becoming a norm, Harvin score, assist Kavi at minute 10 read on the scoreboard yet again as the famous MMXV press was performed to a tee.
To their credit Pacey kept going and grabbed a deserved equaliser. But it didn’t silence the fans who went even louder and the players fed on the energy as Taufiq scored a goal for the ages with a fantastic half-volley after a Jeeva assist.
Pacey may have had hopes of grabbing the equaliser that they needed but it was extinguished with another dazzling run by Kavi who ghosted the left-back before scoring for Harvin who made no mistake.
But do not let the scoreline convince you otherwise. It was a truly hard fought game with every player working their socks off.
Team Manager Sivaraj had this to say,
“Winning against your direct rivals will always be an opportunity to celebrate. But we have nothing but respect for our opponents today. They have been running us close all season and in today’s game they made us work. But the hard work starts now. We have our fate in our own hands and we have the opportunity to shape our destiny. We will continue to stay humble and work hard for our much deserved rewards.”
