Team Report

The game was during one of Singapore's long weekends. Right before the game we had a quick photo session with X-league's chief paparazzi - Navin. Both teams were depleted with only 12 players for us and 13 for Berossia available for the game. This meant we had a better chance for a positive result than last time around we met.
The game started with USSR attacking, Anthony had a good chance on the right with goalkeeper paring the shot into crossbar and safely gathering Dima's rebound one-timer. Several minutes later we had a cornerkick well-defended by Berossia creating a swift counter-attack which resulted in a nice goal by them. We have quickly replied with 2 of our own, thanks to Bugra's power to break through defenders into one-on-one and Samir's geniality to lob the goalkeeper from 30 meters out. It was all going well for USSR until we had a small mistake in the back clearing a rather innocent throw-in which resulted in Berossia's equalizer, soon after they were in the lead again with a nice header from corner follow-up cross. 3-2 the first half finished. This was the poorest 1st half performance this season as we have not allowed more than a goal since the first game of the season. Second half was more cautious. We were able to equalize through Anthony's shot on the right but towards the end Berossia went ahead again due to poor ball clearance from Berossia's keeper kick-in. Nonetheless, it was a nice piece of ball control by Berossia's forward. As usual, right before the final whistle we had a chance to equalize from free-kick but Anthony hit the crossbar again and Bugra's following-on shot was well-saved by Berossia's keeper.
MOM for us goes to Samir for his beautiful goal, and Berossia's MOM is for keeper for his 2 key saves from Anthony and Bugra shots and an assist in the last goal.
