D'Angelos Saints 4 Lionheart (Alpha) FC 4

After a long Ramadan and Eid break, the players were itching to play. Today's game sees a lot of new players join the team but everyone who attended had a chance to play at least one half. The team started with an ambitious 4-3-3 formation with veteran Ikin in goal and new player Zul leading the attack with comeback player Syafiq and his younger brother Syahir in a 3 pronged attack designed to exploit on speed.

However it was the Saints that opened the proceedings with a breakthrough after 20 mins of play. The back 4 failing to close in on the Saints attacker that let loose a well placed strike beyond the reach of Ikin.

This made the Lions focus on scoring. Neneng sent a looping rasping shot from 25 yards out with the Saints keeper unable to stop the venomous shot. Parity restored on 30 mins.

With 5 minutes to go, a clean through pass from Zul at left back, sent Zul the striker clear to give the Lions the lead at the half.

Manager Hazrul rung in the changes to preserve the lead switching to a more defensive 4-2-3-1 with Syam coming in for Zul in attack and new player Isaac at right wing. Hafiz held the center with Neng and Aiman at CDM. A new back four was also sent in.

However Saints scored again tying the game.

But before the Saints could celebrate a quick counter and build up play bore dividends as Isaac tapped in from close range after a long pass from Left midfield was parried by the keeper and fell to the path of Isaac who made no mistakes.

A tactical tweak to send Syafiq back in to hold the center with Hafiz dropping back to CDM as Aiman was replaced. Isaac switched wings with Kecik giving the midfield more control. Not long after, Neng scored again.

Lions controlled the game but a failure to keep the ball and insistence on pushing up allowed the Saints to capitalize on mistakes.

With 10 minutes to go, a failed clearance from a corner allowed the Saints to claw back and a last minute goal by Saints breaking past the Defence put the Saints back on level terms.

Before anything else could be done from the management, the ref called time, giving the Lionhearts their first points in the season.

They face Team Awesome next on 23 August hoping to climb up away from relegation.
