This Sunday afternoon was warm; however, recent thunderstorm made the artificial pitch wet and cool making it pleasant to play on.

Beauty of X-League: all teams are competitive and even if you play one from the bottom of the league with "-20" in goal difference still expect a serious battle. Referees are quite decent too at least compared to friendlies we usually play during season breaks.

In the first round, USSR barely survived against OHB equalising (1-1) towards the end of the game. We had a good turnout for the game (4 subs available) missing only 2 key regulars (Ramon and Pasha V). OHB had a number of subs (4-5) as well. Prior to this game we have lost 2 friendlies by allowing more than 4 goals in each match. So, the idea for this game was to start defensive not engaging opponent until they approach half-line, minimize short passes, as we missed Ramon in the middle with high passing quality, use flanks (Anthony, Sardor) to advance the ball forward and long passes over the centre of the pitch to big and tall Samir and Bugra.

Both teams started well with opportunities for both sides. OHB scored first, as Dima K while heading the ball in defence misplaced back into penalty box right onto the foot of the lonely OHB striker, one-timer followed into low corner, no chance for keeper from this distance. It was a case of a very poor defending. USSR equalized several minutes later with Burga receiving a long pass, taking it down and shooting while turning towards the goal, shot hit the post and rolled into goals, OHB keeper palmed it out but the ball had already crossed the line. Next goal came from OHB's right side with a nice move on the flank their midfielder crossed into the penalty box, myself playing a right defender, I have moved all the way to front post to head the ball, the idea was to head it out for corner but because I was looking at the ball, misjudged goals location and scored an own goal. This is a bit misfortunate. Luckily, Bugra had quickly equalized again. This time, it was our goal kick which went all the way to OHB keeper who was left alone against Bugra to catch the ball high in the air. Bugra's head was first on the ball and it was 2-2. That's how first half ended.

Second half started with lots of attacking pressure from OHB. We were barely holding up with numerous saves from Sergey, poor finishing by OHB and some luck (OHB hit post again). In meantime, OHB defence was losing a bit of concentration wanting to help out their attackers. From a free kick, a nice passing move followed involving Anthony, Samir and Bugra with the latter shooting an unstoppable shot right under the crossbar above OHB goalkeeper. Later on OHB finally scored with nice move on their left side, a pass across goals went to the right side and low shot into the front post followed. The game was seemingly going to yet another draw for us. But towards the end of the game Anthony found some strength to run on our right and cross the ball along the goals, all OHB defenders were worried about Bugra who actually didn't get to the ball leaving lonely Sardor on the left side, his one-timer was acrobatically saved by OHB keeper but the rebound hit Sardor and went into the goal while both midfielder and keeper collided. A rather fortunate goal, but we take it. 4-3 the game ended.
