Team Report

There were some vibes before the game given long term competitive relationship between the two teams. It is a bit unusual being recognized and greeted by the opponent when you just enter the pitch. Unfortunately, we were confirmed just 11 for the game with one person falling ill with fever and one being late for the entire first half. Maestro was in full force. We had to start with just 8 people on the pitch as waiting longer for late comers was not possible anymore. Luckily, 9th person finally showed up and we were 9 vs 11 for the first half. Maestro was playing relatively defensive, not expecting such a depleted USSR side. They managed to score from the corner. We made a mistake with 2 of our players still covering posts under goalkeeper command but that meant a massive disadvantage with man covering leaving two Maestris completely open 0-1. Second goal was another mistake, our goalkeeper did a goalkick but it was so poor that Maestro player one-timed this shot into a one-on-one pass; easy conversion followed 0-2. We had one one-on-one as well but Pasha V's shot was saved.
In the second half, we finally had 10 players and changed formation to at least try to rescue a point. It didn't actually work all the way. Yes, we had created more opportunities, scoring once but allowed more space to Maestro in our defence. Our keeper own goal made it 0-3. Alisher stole a ball from Maestro defender and made it 1-3. Quick one-on-one made it 1-4. Deflection by our defender made it 1-5. Finally, another Maestro player stole ball from Dima K in defence and converted one more one-on-one chance 1-6. It ended. Congrats to Maestro for their first regulation time win over USSR Utd, albeit not 11 vs 11. Our MOM goes to Alisher for his goal and performance given he was struck with sore throat this week. Opponents MOM goes to the formidable defensive figure of Gerlad Tan for well commanding Maestro defence.
