NEFC vs Ironfield
Truly a tale of of two halves.
1st Half:
Fastest goal of the season might even be in the history of X-league has to that of the1st NEFC goal of the day courtesy of Faris who cooly chipped the ball over the onrushing gk. Capitalizing on a back pass error NEFC benefitted from a cagey ironfield defence.
A blatant handball in Ironfields penalty area left the ref no choice but to award NEFC with a penalty kick, of which was converted by Aciq who was clearly nervous though his celebration portrayed otherwise. Yet another in his collection of varied goals for NEFC.
Our skipper Farn brought on his A game with a MOM performance. Defence splitting throughs, amazing Pirlo-esque distribution and spraying of passes. Single handedly he created wave after wave of attacks resulting in multiple glorious chances troubling Ironfield defence. Eventually it all ended as the ref blew for the half time break. Surely much to Ironfields relief as the presure was over. Thanks to Ironfields MOM Hazim and his crew, the scoreline remained at 2-0 as they produced a series of resilient no nonsence interventions.
2nd half:
It was all Ironfield now. Having made changes at half time ensuring playing time for all present and that no ones left behind, NEFC then had to face Ironfields tireless Ironhearts and possibly their strongest line up. Clearly a strategy that worked instantly. Ironfields Shafiq began to boss the midfield. Hafiz, the current league topscorer too made his presence felt. NEFC had no other option but to sit back and defend.
Ultimately, Ironfields effort paid off as they pulled one back. Combined with a series of conceding needless freekicks, lacklustre defending and also with the "not so Eastroids like" string of passes, Ironfield scored. The believe grew for Ironfield and with some luck but no lack of effort, NEFC was made to share the spoils.
Immensed was this game of football. Great sportsmanship combined with slightly poor refreeing decisions and controversial calls made this game a very memorable one.
Football is beautiful, losing 2 points is not.
Being NEFC is beautiful but the Iron was simpply too hot.
Our sincere congrats to Ironfield and may you succeed in the remaining games of the season. It was a pleasure to meet you guys. See you soon!
