Third placed Island 69 beat Lion Heart 4-2 this week at Ang Mo Kio Secondary in a game which saw the away side reduced to 10 men. Goals from Man of the Match Saifi Seraaj and Fa'aiz Rewan made sure that the Islanders came away with all three points, cementing their place in the league standings.
While the Islanders remain in third spot, Lion Heart find themselves going into the final game of the season desperately needing a win. Unfortunately for them, their opponents will once again be Island 69 as postponements during the course of the season pushed the home and away fixture between these two sides to the final stages.
Who will join Northern Warriors in Div 5 next season? Will it be Midland Wolves, Lion Heart FC or Valkyrie? Stay tuned to find out!

After overtaking Star FC in the standings last week, POS continued their dominance in Division 5 of the Sunday Premier League with their third straight win. Seventh placed Northern Warriors were their victims this time round at Serangoon Secondary as the home side emerged 9-1 winners.
While the abovementioned match took place without a hitch, the same can’t be said about the game between Midland Wolves and Freak Warrior. With the score at 4-2 in favour of the home side, the match had to be called off in the 61st min of play due to lightning and bad weather. Gerald Ting (2 goals), Alex Xie and Shawn Seah were on target for the home side. The Wolves had this to say after the game- “Once again MWFC proved that we’re still a force to be reckoned with following today's brilliant performance. Let’s maintain this spirit & form and continue to get results! Gerald Ting was credited the Man-of-Match Award for his outstanding performance. He could have gotten a few more but nevertheless was the best player on the pitch today. And he is only sixteen!”

Having beaten league leaders Star FC last week, no team would have wanted to face Freak Warrior except for Island 69. Boasting the division’s leading top goal-scorer, the away side battled valiantly and came away 3-2 winners. Their Hero was none other then Man of the Match, Zali Asli, who bagged a hat-trick to secure all three points for his team.
POS moved to the top of the league standings this week with a lucky 1-0 win over Midland Wolves in a game which could have gone either way. The Wolves had this to say after the game, “Heads up Wolves! This game was well played by everyone. We were just unlucky to walk away with nothing due to a couple of decisions that didn’t go our way. Despite losing again, we will take every defeat as a learning lesson to make us even stronger”. Over at Naval Base Secondary, Valkyrie and Lion Heart FC battled to a 2-2 draw.

Midland Wolves FC suffered their seventh defeat of the season this week when they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by bottom of the table, Northern Warriors who leapfrogged them in the league standing thanks to the result. The Wolves had this to say after the game, “We should have won this game as we were clearing the better side throughout the 80mins. Failure to convert our chances and poor communication amongst the team saw us concede two unnecessary goals from set pieces”.
Despite going down to 10 men, Freak Warrior pulled off the upset of the season handing Star FC their first loss with an impressive 2-0 win at Ang Mo Kio Secondary. The result sees Star FC still at the top of the league table having played more games than second placed POS FC, who now have a chance to go top in the coming weeks.

Due to postponements at the start of the season, second and third placed POS and Island 69 respectively, faced off again within a span of two weeks much to the delight of social footballing fans. The result however was very different as the home side moved one step closer to the title thanks to Man of the Match Al-Faiz, who netted twice in the final 10mins of the game to secure all three points for his team.
League Leaders Star FC continued their dominance at the top with an impressive 3-0 win over Lion Heart at Marsiling Secondary. The away side had their fair amount of chances to get back into the game but paid the ultimate price for poor finishing.

POS failed to capitalize on their impressive 5-1 win over Star FC last week drawing 0-0 with third placed Island 69 at East Spring Secondary. The Islanders had this to say in their post match report, “POS are still unbeaten in the league but we managed to contain them to get a point. It was a really tough game for both sides as we struggled to find the back of the net. We feel that with this result, it will be us and them challenging for the title at the end of the season”.

When you’re playing in a top of the table clash, the last thing that you want to do is concede in the first min. Man of the Match Raymie Rohani opened the floodgates in this tie when he found the back of the net within seconds of the match kick-king off. He then added a second in the 24th min to give POS a 2-0 lead going into the break. Star FC then tried their best to pull a goal back just after half-time but found themselves trailing 3-0 by the 62nd min thanks to a fine effort by Tan Kok Siang. Goals from Azri Mohamed and Mohamed Shaik in the dying mins of the game summarized what proved to be a resounding weekend for POS.
Over at Naval Base Secondary, a solitary goal by Farhan Zakariya was not enough from stopping Northern Warriors from slipping to their eight straight defeat as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by an in-form Freak Warrior side.

It’s been four weeks since Freak Warrior last won a match but that all ended on Sunday when the home side beat Valkyrie 3-0 at Ang Mo Kio Secondary with a dominant performance. Potential title contenders POS were given a scare this week when they struggled to beat last placed Northern Warriors 6-4 in a game which could have gone either way. The Warriors had this to say after the game, “This was our best performance to date even though we lost. We went into the break 3-1 up and even scored a fourth in the second half. We made the mistake of going on the defensive and paid the price in the last 15mins when they were awarded two penalties. Although they only managed to convert one penalty, their fitness prevailed in the dying mins and they managed to somehow another score four”.
Leading top goal-scorer Zani Asli was on target twice as third placed Island 69 came the closest to beating league leaders Star FC this week, when they held the home side to a 2-2 draw. This despite dominating most of the first half and going into the break with a 1-0 lead. Over at Bedok South Secondary, Lion Heart got back to winning ways beating Midland Wolves 2-0 in the process thanks to fine efforts from Muhammad Ridwan aka Wan Neymar and Spaniard, Iwan Molina.

Island 69 showed Division 4 that they’re a force to be reckoned with this week when they trounced Northern Warriors 7-2 at Ang Mo Kio Secondary thanks to four goal hero and Man of the Match Zani Asli. The win sees Island 69 sit third in the league standings tied on points with potential title contenders POS FC.
Over at Coral Secondary, Lion Heart were potentially robbed of three points as they were beaten 3-1 by Star FC in a tale of two halves. The home side had two penalty calls waved off by the match official and paid the price for some woeful defending despite dominating play for most of the second half. Lion Heart had this to say after the game, “This was our biggest test to date and the final score-line certainly doesn’t do justice to the way we played. This was a game that we should have won”.

Over at East Spring Secondary, Lion Heart secured three points again this week beating Freak Warrior 3-2 courtesy of a hat-trick by Spaniard, Iwan Molina. “The Lions came to this game with confidence after our 6-0 thrashing of Northern Warriors the week before. Our new signing, Iwan Molina was definitely the key difference in the game against Freak Warriors as he earned his first hat-trick in only his second game. He also set a new club record for being the first player to score a hat-trick in a league game”- Lion Heart FC

Following their 7-0 loss to POS last week, few would predict the outcome of Lion Heart’s match against Northern Warriors when the teams faced off at Woodgrove Secondary. The away side put on a sterling performance to come away 6-0 winners in a game which they dominated from start to finish. Lion Heart had this to say after the game, “We felt like a rejuvenated side. We got our act together and trounced our opponents. Now boasting two foreign players from Chile and Spain, the team looked more confident on the ball and even played some Tiki-Taka football. Ivan Molina opened the scoring and then the floodgates simply opened as scorer turned provider for 6 different players to score. We’re so proud that Hanaffi, Adam, Udin, Haziq and Wawan made the score-sheet today. Despite the big defeat, we give much respect to our opponents who still kept their spirits high and still jested with candour during and after the game. We may have won big, but we were more educated by the opponent's spirit. Something our boys need to learn”.
Over at Bedok Green Secondary, Star FC showed all teams in Division 4 that they mean business with an impressive 7-1 win over Valkyrie. Valkyrie had this to say after the game, “We started very poorly conceding 3 goals in the first 10 mins. We were playing too deep in our own half and created few chances. We played much better in the second half despite letting in another 4 goals”. Two goals from Man of the Match Iskandar Zulkarnain coupled with fine efforts by Raymie Rohani and Mohamed Shaik in the last ten mins of the game saw POS garner their fifth straight win of the season when they beat Freak Warrior 4-2 at East Spring Secondary.

Having lost their previous three matches, Valkyrie finally got back to winning ways this week with an emphatic 4-1 win over Northern Warriors at Woodgrove Secondary thanks to fine efforts by Pradeep VJ, Richard Ting and Zhang Jia Wei. The home side had this to say after the game, “The 1st half started at a really slow pace with our 1st goal scored just before the end of the first half. 2nd half the team started picking up the pace with wave after wave of attacks. The MOM was the opponent's goalkeeper. He made a couple of top notch saves to keep his side in the game. Immediately after our opponents equalized, we decided to make some changes to increase the pace & it paid dividends. The team were happy to get the win after being on the losing side for the last 3 matches”.
League leaders Star FC maintained their perfect start to the season beating Midland Wolves 5-1 in a match which they dominated from start to finish. “This score-line certainly deserved for the winning side as MWFC seeks to improve and pick up the pace after back-to-back defeats. We’ll strive to work harder and perform to the best of our capabilities” – Midland Wolves. POS hit Lion Heart FC with seven goals this week courtesy of clinical efforts from Raymie Rohani, Tan Kok Siang, Aidil Deah, Al-Faiz, Faisal Mazlan and Mohamed Shaik.

Two goals from Man of the Match Zali Asli saw Island 69 beat Midland Wolves 2-0 in a tale of two halves. With both teams creating a fair amount of chances in the first 40mins, it was to everyone’s surprise that both sides went into the break tied at 0-0. The home side had this to say after the game, “The last minute counter attack was costly and the game could have been salvaged had Weihao's effort had not been cleared off the line. Tough luck! Overall, MWFC had a fair performance taken into consideration that both centre-backs were injured in the process. We’ll works towards having a better performance in the next game”.
Over at East Spring Secondary, Freak Warrior and Lion Heart FC played to a 1-1 draw with the away side taking the lead in this clash within the first 60 seconds. Lion Heart had this to say after the game, “ XL Lionhearts eked out a 1-1 draw against the combative Freak Warriors. There was enough action to keep the game interesting in both halves. However both sides were not clinical enough and the game unfortunately ended in a draw”. League leaders Star FC maintained their fine form with a 3-0 win over Valkyrie at Ang Mo Kio Secondary.

And the most notable win of the week award goes to Midland Wolves, who put on a sterling performance to notch a 5-1 win over Lion Heart FC. The away side had this to say after the game, “A pulsating MWFC performance saw us run riot against Lion Heart FC this week with 4 goals netted in the first half. Star FC lead the Sunday Premier League Div 4 standings thanks to their third successive win this week when they beat Island 69 4-2 at Henderson Secondary. POS FC (pictured above) had their match against Midland Wolves FC postponed due to bad weather and a water-logged pitch. They were leading 2-0 going into half-time. According to X-League Rules, 20 mins of the second-half need to be played for the score to stand thus the match will be re-played at a later date.
Valkyrie were handed their first loss this week when they went down 2-1 to Freak Warrior at Fuchun Secondary. The away side had this to say after the game, “The match started evenly with no goals scored in the 1st half. We took the lead early into the second half but it was all downhill from there. The home team scored soon after with the offside rule in their favour. Then they took the lead with a free kick. We tried our best to get back into the game but were pressed for time”.
Despite their best efforts, Lion Heart FC only managed a draw against Northern Warriors in a game which could have gone either way.

A hat-trick by Pradeep VJ saw Valkyrie secure their second win of the season when they beat Midland Wolves 3-2 in an entertaining encounter. Even after taking the lead in the dying mins of the game, we stood together and defended the away side's brilliant offensive play. Kudos to them for a great game”.

A rejuvenated Lion Heart side got their season off to a horrendous start when they were hammered 4-0 by POS FC thanks to fine efforts by Tan kok Siang, Faisal Mazlan and Azri Mohamed. The home side had this to say after the game, “Lion Heart made a return to the X-League after securing Singa-sports Academy as their primary sponsor and Paw Gear, a local sportswear start-up, as their kit sponsor. However the occasion got the better of us as we fell apart in the first half, conceding 4 easy goals and getting 2 unnecessary yellow cards. It was a wake-up call that was badly needed after drawing with Socceritez FC 2-2, former XL Saturday League champions, and defeating Exclusinga FC 4-1, in pre-season”.
One of the upsets of the day certainly belonged to Star FC’s shock 1-0 win over favourites Midland Wolves at Bedok View Secondary. Having beaten and drawn with their rivals last season, it was only poetic justice that the home side came away with all three points this time round. Over at Bedok South Secondary, Valkyrie scored an impressive 4-1 win over Northern Warriors thanks to two goals from Man of the Match Kah Wee. Island 69 got their season off to a winning start beating Freak Warrior 2-1 at Woodgrove Secondary.
